Procrastination & Memory

Now Playing: Three Dog Night - One is the loneliest number

My earliest memory is this - being brought back to earth by a teacher after daydreaming in class. Before that, as expected, everything is a blank slate, but what surprises me is what came after - I remember looking in a mirror and being surprised to see the face I saw. It seems now that I only assumed my identity after that, which begs the question - who, or what, was I before? Have I always been Sharon, or am I only the current occupant? Is it possible that one day I will float off into a reverie and another Sharon will be rudely jolted back to earth? If so, where will I go - join my predecessor, or go somewhere entirely different?

... and then I remember I have a chemistry midterm to study for, and with a sigh, I put aside my musings and pick up my textbook.

Ooh, so you DO update occasionally! Hurrah!

Yeah, who am I? I don't know. I don't always like me, though.

Hope the chem went well! :)

Identity acquisition is an interesting topic, one that gives rise to debates about the existence of an immortal soul. After death, do our souls (if they exist) cease to exist? Or do they continue their existence in another, less corporeal, form, having achieved transcendence? I think I believe more in the latter at the moment; seems less of a pessimistic, existential view to take. :D

Salanth: Yes, updates are of the sporadic in these parts. :D

Stephen: My little whatchammacallit wasn't really inspired by any long-term vision, it's just what my brain came up with while refusing to study chm220. :S

This post immediately reminded me of the time Nair caught you daydreaming during bio... You were staring out of the window, and you stared at her with this dazed expression because you hadn't realized that she had called on you. :)

wolf: yeah, pretty much what Chris said :D

hemlyn: ah, the perils of a window seat! :D but you know, for the life of me, i can't recall what she did after that. :S

Ooooh! The Butterfly Effect!!! Try reading one of your past posts. I tried that before, but it didn't work; maybe you'll have better luck!
